An API mediation platform, not just a gateway

Relay is a superset of a classic API Gateway: it normalizes heterogeneous formats and protocols and gives clients a single, consistent interface to any backend.

The service unifies four integration disciplines in one product — from routing to guaranteed delivery. The closest market analogy is MuleSoft Anypoint, in a more focused form.

Requests and responses are delivered via queues. On error the message is retried with a configurable backoff, and an undeliverable one lands in a dead-letter queue for review.
